The Qidwai Campus – READ Foundation School

The Qidwai Welfare Trust and its educational partner organization – READ Foundation – jointly celebrated the opening of ‘The Qidwai Campus – READ Foundation School’ located on Japan Road in the rural suburbs of Islamabad on Friday, February 7, 2014. The school was completed with a total construction cost of Pakistani Rupees 20 million (US $ 190,000) on a 1.1 acre (4500 square meters) plot of land donated by Dr. Ahmad Qidwai.

 

School4The Qidwai Campus READ Foundation School, was built for a capacity of 300 students and it shall offer classes up-to high-school. The two-storey seismic-compliant school building features 12 purpose-built classrooms, a teacher resource room, computer and science laboratories, and administrative offices besides large play area for children. The school will presently cater for the academic needs of both boys and girls up to primary level, and only girls in grades six to ten. A separate building shall be constructed in the near future for boys in grades six to ten. READ Foundation shall run this school by drawing on its extensive experience of running a network of 340 schools for more than 80,000 children since 1994.

 

School1Chairman of Qidwai Welfare Trust Mudaser Qidwai and Engineer Dr. Ahmad Qidwai jointly unveiled the commemorative plaque to mark inauguration of the school in the company of the CEO READ Foundation Pakistan Shahid Rafique, CEO READ Foundation UK Jahangeer Akhtar and the Executive Vice President Qidwai Welfare Trust Muhammad Fayyaz Khan. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the community members, representatives of the local and international non-governmental organizations and media persons.
