Ramadan 2013

In early July, a few days before Ramadan we distributed 76.1 tons of food stables worth KD17,825 ($62,400), to 1,050 zakat eligible families in Pakistan. Each family received a food pack with approximately 72.5 kg (160 lb) of food stables, including 40kg of flour, 10kg of rice, 5kg of sugar, 5kg of lentils, 2.5kg of chickpeas, 5kg of oil, 2.5kg of gram flour, 1kg of dates, 1.5 liters of concentrated juice, 0.5kg of tea and mix spices.

We distributed 200 food packs in Burma Town – Islamabad, 100 food packs in Tarnol – Punjab, 150 food packs in Mansehra – KP, 250 food packs in Bagh – Azzad Jammu Kashmir, 200 food packs in Lahore – Punjab, 100 in Karachi – Sindh and 50 in Islamabad.

All recipients of the food packs were pre-screened a couple of days prior to the distribution and all efforts were made to ensure that they were Zakat eligible. Moreover, to streamline the distribution process, all the recipients were given food vouchers/tokens during the screening process and prior to the distribution to avoid chaos during the distribution.

The food distribution was organized by the very dedicated, competent and professional team of Muslim Aid – Pakistan. This was the sixth year we used Muslim Aid – Pakistan for our Ramadan Food Distribution.
