Ramadan 2014 – Food Distribution – Qidwai Welfare Trust

Qidwai Welfare Trust had a very successful 2014 Ramadan Food Distribution. During the last week of June, a few days prior to Ramadan, we distributed approximately 73,500kg (161,000 lb) of food stables worth $73,700 to 1,400 Zakat eligible families in Pakistan. Each family received a food pack with approximately 52.5kg (115 lb) of food stables, including 20kg of flour, 10kg of rice, 5kg of sugar, 5kg of lentils, 2.5kg of chickpeas, 5kg of oil, 2.5kg of gram flour, 1kg of dates, 1.5 liters of concentrated juice, 0.5kg of tea and mix spices.

We distributed 150 food packs in Burma Town – Punjab, 100 food packs in Tarnol – Punjab, 150 food packs in Mansehra – KPK, 200 food packs in Bagh – Azzad Jammu Kashmir, 100 food packs in Peshawar, KPK, 250 food packs in Muzzafarabad – Azzad Jammu Kashmir, 200 food packs in Lahore – Punjab, 250 in Karachi – Sindh.

The recipients were pre-screened a couple of days prior to the distribution and all efforts were made to ensure they were Zakat eligible. Preference was given to poor and needy families of orphans and widows.

To streamline the distribution process, the recipients were given food vouchers during the pre-screening. This helped avoid chaos during the distribution and it ensured the right, deserving people received the food.

The food distribution was organized in collaboration with Muslim Aid – Pakistan and READ Foundation – Pakistan.

This year, the distributions were facilitated by our Orphan Home employees, and a team of older boys and girls from our Orphan Homes. This was done to help build our own capacity and to get the older children involved in charity and welfare activities.

By the grace of Allah, this was the seventh consecutive year Qidwai Welfare Trust organized its annual Ramadan Food Distribution. We would like to thank our donors for their continued support and trust in Qidwai Welfare Trust.
