5 Deep Water Wells in Tharparkar district (Thar Desert)
Qidwai Welfare Trust in partnership with Fast Rural Development Program (FRDP) recently completed 5 Deep
water wells in the Tharparkar district (Thar Desert).
Tharparkar district (Thar Desert) is spread over 22,000 square kilometers with a population of around one million. The district is ranked as the most food-insecure by the World Food Program of Pakistan’s 120 districts. More than 90% people of the district live in around 2,000 villages. More than 80% of people’s livelihood is dependent on precarious rain-fed agriculture and livestock.
Due of the lack of clean drinking water, children are especially vulnerable to water-borne diseases such as diarrhea, dehydration, worm infections, typhoid, and hepatitis etc. Some of these diseases have long term effects on lives.
